Our Mission
To
enhance the quality of life for individuals with a hearing loss with or without
other disabilities by promoting communication access and strengthening awareness
and service collaboration between various organizations, businesses and
agencies.
Purpose
The purpose of the Eastern Washington Center for the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing is to:
Promote the general welfare of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the
Inland Northwest and to enhance the relationship between
the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and the general public.
Foster the development of programs for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Encourage research related to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Provide support to parents of Deaf children with
information, referral and relevant
services.
Promote acceptance and inclusion of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in
all walks of life.
Collaborate and enlist the support of all public, private,
religious and professional organizations in breaking down communicative,
linguistic, cultural and societal barriers between the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing community and the mainstream public.
Associate with and support organizations whose missions and
purposes are consistent with those of the EWCDHH.
Serve regionally as a resource center and clearing house for
information pertinent to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
Operate services and programs that promote and enhance the
independence and welfare of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Solicit and receive funds for the accomplishment of the above
purposes.
